Town of Amherst

Contact: Town of Amherst Community Development Office – 631-7082

Assistance Available: Up to $5000.00 towards the closing costs and escrow. In some cases, additional down payment assistance is available.

Guidelines: Must be within 80% of the area median income limits

 

Belmont Shelter Corp.

Contact: Homeownership Counselors – 884-7791

Assistance Available: Section 8 to Homeownership Program

Guidelines: Must currently be participating in the Section 8 program

 

City of Buffalo Down Payment Assistance Program

Contact: Home Front Buffalo – 856-2952

Assistance Available – Up to $5000.00 towards down payment and closing costs, and up to $8000.00 is available for rehabilitation and repairs on a home.

Guidelines: Must be within 80% of the area median income limits.

Erie County First Time Homebuyer Program

Contact: Marie Pieczynski, Erie County Department of Environment and Planning – 858-2733

Assistance Available: Up to $6000.00 for down payment and closing costs.

Guidelines: Must be within 80% of the area median income limits. The purchases can buy the house anywhere in Erie county excluding Amherst, Buffalo, Cheektowaga, Hamburg, and the Town of Tonawanda.

 

Town of Hamburg First Time Homebuyer Program

Assistance Available: A purchase reduction of $10,000.00 on existing homes or $20,000.00 on newly constructed homes.

Guidelines: Must be within 80% of the area median income level

 

HSBC First Home Club

Contact: 651-6139 Marci Bellaire

Assistance Available: A matched savings program where every dollar that you save, HSBC matches that savings 3:1 up to $1600.00, giving the person $6400.00 for their home purchase.

Guidelines: Must be within 100% of the area median income limits, and must apply for their mortgage through HSBC.  

 

City of North Tonawanda

Assistance Available: Up to $20,000.00 towards down payment and closing costs.

Guidelines: Must be within 80% of the area median income limits.

 

Rental Assistance Corp.

Assistance Available: Section 8 to Homeownership Program

Guidelines: Must currently be participating in the Section 8 program

 

Rural Housing Service

Assistance Available: Down payment and closing cost assistance

Guidelines: Must be purchasing a home in designated rural areas.

 

Town of Tonawanda

Assistance Available: New homes are built in the Sheridan Parkside, Kenilworth, and Old Town Neighborhoods. Closing cost and down payment assistance are available.

Guidelines: Must apply to the waitlist, and be within 80% of the area median income limits.
